Minna Salami is a Nigerian-Finnish and Swedish writer and commentator. She is the founder of the award-winning blog MsAfropolitan and the author of Sensuous Knowledge: A Black Feminist Approach for Everyone, a book of critical reflections that explores art, beauty, identity, belonging and womanhood with an Africa-centred, decolonial and feminist perspective. As a lecturer and keynote speaker, Minna has held talks at various prominent institutions such as the UN, the EU, The Oxford Union, The Cambridge Union, Yale University and The Singularity University at NASA. She holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Lund, Sweden, and a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies (Distinction) with a focus on black feminisms from SOAS, University of London. Minna is a co-director of the feminist movement Activate and a Senior Research Associate and Feminist Theorist for the research group Perspectiva. She sits on the advisory board of the African Feminist Initiative at Pennsylvania State University and the editorial board of the Interdisciplinary Journal for the Study of the Sahel.
Born in Finland, Minna Salami has lived in Nigeria, Sweden, Spain and New York and now lives in London, where she is passionately committed to promoting empowerment.
