The Institute

The Finnland-Institut aims at the promotion of long-term co-operation and dialogue between Finland and the German-speaking region. The Institute emphasises on networking and counselling of actors from different disciplines and offers a diverse programme in co-operation with its partners.

The core activities of the Finnland-Institut aim at enhancing international dialogue, promoting the visibility of Finnish culture, the arts and academia along with the perspective of creating working possibilities and viable networks.

The Institute is headquartered in Berlin’s city centre, in the district Mitte. The Finnland-Institut has operated from Berlin since 1994. It was founded by the Foundation for the Finnish Institute in Germany located in Helsinki. The Institute is a member in The Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes‘ network.

The Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes oppose racism and discrimination. We promote equality and the diversity of Finnish culture and strive to diversify research and science globally.

The Finnland-Institut belongs to the founding members of the network European Union National Institutes for Culture/EUNIC Berlin.
