STUDIO VISIT in our new Open Studio series.
The next Finnish artist to open the doors to her studio is Elsa Salonen. She is one of the six artists participating in the Visiting Art/ists 2024 exhibition ‘I find you in all these things’, currently on display at the Finnland-Institut.
Elsa Salonen uses multiple techniques for creating the natural pigments that she uses in her installations and paintings. She meticulously processes her materials of choice, from grinding seashells and meteorites to distilling colours from flowers. Life and death are two of the central themes in her works. Elsa Salonen has had exhibitions in Berlin, Bogotá, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Innsbruck and Seoul, among others, and her works are featured in the collections of the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art (FI), the Saastamoinen Foundation (FI), and the Lissone Museum of Contemporary Art (IT).
If you are interested in participating in the event, please register by emailing us at mirjami.schuppert@finstitut.de. We will then send you a confirmation with the exact address of the studio. Capacity is limited, and the registration to the event is binding: if for any reason you aren’t able to join, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can ensure as many people as possible are able to attend.
