VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is the largest design event in Austria and Finland has the honour of being this year’s guest country.
The core of the Finnish programme in Vienna is the exhibition Wild at Heart curated by young designer Tero Kuitunen. The exhibition gives its visitors a look into the protean world of contemporary Finnish design and a glimpse of its lesser known sides.
The guided tour takes you behind the scenes and offers insight into the exhibition’s context and development process. The eleven designers and their artistic works are introduced in depth and the central themes of the exhibition further explained.
“I especially want to highlight how multifaceted Finnish design is. I think we are currently living in a design Renaissance, where people move more freely between different creative territories”, says exhibition curator Tero Kuitunen.
After the tour, we invite you to join us for some refreshments to the Habitare Mingle, which will be organised in cooperation with Habitare, the leading design fair in Finland.
Tero Kuitunen is a spatial and product designer based in Helsinki, Finland. He has graduated as a designer from the Applied Arts MA programme at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture. Currently he is working as a freelance designer in several different fields. Tero’s biggest sources of inspiration are vivid colours and new materials to explore. His search for what moves and touches people is a central aspect of all of his works. In 2017 he received a one-year working grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and in 2018 he was nominated for product designer of the year at the AD Awards.
