Culture programme

The objective of the Finnish Institute's culture programme is twofold. First, we would like to make unique aspects of contemporary cultural life in Finland accessible to the German-speaking public in Europe. At the same time, our goal is to create functioning networks and new job opportunities for Finnish artists and creative individuals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The Finnish Institute participates annually in the design and organisation of approximately 100 cultural events. Long-term co-operations as well as project follow-ups are also an essential feature of the culture programme. Please see the Event Calendar >

We work with region-based themes and events in order to create long-term effect and establish functioning networks, as well as to provide well-balanced support to various cultural and artistic fields.

The Finnish Institute’s annual budget is provided by the Finnish Ministry for Education and Culture. The financial contribution by our partners also represents a significant portion of our funding. In addition, we submit applications for strategic third-party funding to foundations and endowments which specifically promote cultural and academic interests. Individual artists and cultural institutions also have the opportunity to apply for grants – for example through the TelepART programme. Please see Funding >
